ABOUT USServices that FACES Foundation offers:FACES Foundation offers expertise in providing surgical treatment of children with facial deformities. Examples would be children born with cleft lip and palate, deformed ears, or facial scarring from fires or hot liquids. As we grow, services would extend into other health related areas dealing with dental, speech, hearing, nutrition, and immunization. FACES also will work with third world clinics, such as the Kausay Wasi in Coya, Peru, to earmark and provide support to specific projects for a family's or child's need. Board Members

He is a board member of FACES. Advisory membersRobert Blakeley, PhD is Professor Emeritus of Speech Pathology at OHSU. He was the former director of the OHSU Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Clinic for over 40 years. Mitch Brock, MD is a Kaiser Hospital based Otolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon. Guido and Sandy Del Prado are the founders and directors of the Kausay Wasi Clinic, Coya, Peru. Walter Guralnick, DMD is Professor Emeritus at Harvard Medical and Dental Schools, Boston, Mass. Sharon Higgins, MD is a Kaiser Hospital based Otolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon. Rebekah Jordan, BA Spanish has studied and travelled in Spain, Costa Rica, and Mexico. She is currently working on an MA in Spanish. Alfredo Muro and Rosemarie Schild are Portland based with South American connections. Alfredo is a world renowned guitarist from Peru. Weiliu Qui, DDS is Honorary Dean, School of Stomatology and Professor and Surgeon in Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Shanghai Second Medical University in Shanghai, China. Jacob Reiss, MD is a Kaiser Hospital based geneticist. Harry Schwartz MD, DMD is a Kaiser Hospital based oral maxillofacial surgeon. Mai Ling Schwartz is Director of Personnel at Kaiser Hospital, Los Angeles, California. Luis Solis is a graphic artist and FACES newsletter designer. Garth Smith is the president of Organic Products Trading Company, Vancouver, Washington. Gay Smith is the founder of the Cafe Femenino Foundation, Vancouver, Washington.

Dr. Jeff Israel developed the Kaiser Permanente Cleft Palate Clinic in Portland, Oregon in September of 1985. He has extensive experience in the surgical and medical management of children with cleft lip and palate both locally and abroad. He has led and/or participated in medical mission work to Costa Rica, Mexico, Russia, The Philippines, China, Honduras, and Peru. He is a member of the American Cleft Palate Association. He is also a member of and has passed specialty boards in both the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a board member and co-founder of FACES.
Dr. Tom Albert is a professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. After finishing training in a combined medical/dental program at Harvard in 1977, he joined the faculty at OHSU where local head and neck surgeons embraced him for his expertise in upper and lower jaw problems. From 1983-1996, he was director of the Project HOPE program in China. It was there that he developed many close friends and colleagues with whom he actively communicates today. He joined Dr. Israel on the Kaiser Cleft Palate Team in 1985. He is a board member and co-founder of FACES.
