Blakeley Distinguished Fellowship

Honoring a Lifetime of Meritorious Service

FACES Foundation is proud to recognize Dr. Robert Blakeley, Professor Emeritus of Speech-Language Pathology, for his 50+ years of dedicated work in helping children with cleft palate related speech disorders. Bob started his practice at what is now Oregon Health Sciences University in 1952. For 44 years he directed the University Cleft Palate Team and for the last 22 years has been a most important asset to the Kaiser Cleft Palate Team in Portland. Not only has he traveled the world teaching internationally he is also responsible for the education of hundreds of speech pathology students in this country as well.

Because of Bob’s lifelong commitment to helping children all over the world, it is FACES Foundation’s honor to set up the Robert Blakeley Distinguished Fellowship in speech and language pathology. Its purpose will be to provide a forum for the advancement of understanding of speech issues and management particularly in the cleft population and to encourage the work internationally. As an inspiration to the creation of FACES Foundation, we are excited to extend his legacy of care that started over a half century ago.
