Where Your Gift is Going

Where are my dollars going?

In the past, the money you donated helped our team get to Coya, Peru in September 2007, where we provided surgical and medical care to 36 children. The funds we raise in the next few months will be directed towards helping the children of the women coffee growers in Peru receive surgical corrections and providing them with the associated health care involving head and neck congenital deformities. We anticipate a team of nine to ten people for the upcoming trip to Chiclayo, which will take place December 5th through the 14th. This team includes two surgeons, a pediatrician, an anesthesiologist, a recovery nurse, and others who are instrumental in the surgical process. Your gift will help with transportation, medical supplies, and surgical procedures on the children. In addition, a portion of your contributions will go towards the Blakeley Fellowship. Although our trip to Chiclayo is being planned for December, even now we are in the process of communicating with doctors in Peru to determine the number and severity of cases we will encounter. Our contacts in Chiclayo are currently evaluating eighty patients and selecting the most severe cases for us to focus on. We are hoping to complete 20-30 surgeries during the trip.

How can I help?

On August 28th we are holding a fundraiser to further promote and raise money for the December 2008 trip. Alfredo Muro, talented Peruvian guitarist, will perform this evening.
